August Meeting

Meeting called to order by Elizabeth Lawrence.

Meg McKinney presented a fascinating slide show of the Shelbourne Farms Museum quilt collection, near Burlington, VT.

July minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s report – $3,038.46

The drawing was held for the friendship quilt, which was won by Emily Kennedy.

School days will be held September 26 at the Exceptional Foundation in Homewood.  The lunch will be catered; a $10 deposit is required.  Non members may attend for $25, or join the guild.  Linda Layfield will be in charge of lunch.  The “class” will be any of the Bonnie Hunter scrappy quilts at www.quiltville.com .  The question of door prizes was tabled until the next meeting.

It was voted to donate $50 to the Exceptional Foundation.

Jeanette Reddick displayed one of the quilts from the Quiltville website – Streak of Sunshine.  It was decided that the September meeting will be a working meeting, and everyone is encouraged to bring two 3 ½” x WOF strips to make baby quilts.

Quilt shows in Atlanta (September 18-20), Huntsville (September 18-20) and Pell City (October 23-24) were announced.

Fat quarter winners were Meg McKinney and Jeannette Reddick.  Twenty members were present.  Fat quarter for September is children’s themed.  Refreshments will be provided by Sharon and Jeanette Alvis.
