Jeanette Reddick presented an interesting program on constructing a combination thread snips bag and pin cushion.
Her tip of the day was to use clip skirt hangers to hang finished quilt tops until they can be quilted.
The business meeting was called to order by Elizabeth Lawrence.
Minutes of the September 2009 meeting were accepted as posted on the Guild’s website.
Treasurer’s report – approximately $2,800.00
In Meg McKinney’s absence, no report was made on School Days other than that the participants had a good time.
Emily Kennedy announced that all of the blocks for the friendship quilt have been purchased, and some have already been turned in. She displayed the blocks she has received.
It was announced that a nominating committee for 2010 officers was needed. Carrie Ingram, Mary Ann Raley and Carol Guthrie were named to the committee. Nominations are due at the November meeting.
It was decided that the holiday block drawing block for this year will be a 12 ½” unfinished block of any pattern, in black and gold.
The holiday party will be held on the second Monday in December at the home of Beth Arnett at 6:30 pm. All members are asked to donate $5.00 toward refreshments, and to bring a dessert and/or drink. There will be a sign-up sheet at the November meeting.
Some discussion was entertained about a guild sponsored Quilt Show in the Spring of 2010. The Spring retreat is scheduled for April 23-25, 2010.
Fat quarter winners were Mary Helen McKinlay, Jeanette Alvis and Donna Blackwell.
The meeting concluded with Show and Tell.
Fat quarter for November is 1800’s repro. Refreshments are to be provided by Mary Alice Hart and Phyllis Morse.
