May 2011 Meeting
Sixteen members attended the Monday, May 9th meeting. Cheryl Claybough presented on scrapbook quilts. She showed an array of scrapbook quilts she’s created, and discussed how to use many types of embellishments on the quilts.
There are several quilt shows coming up in the next months .
- The Joy Quilter’s Guild of Jacksonville, Alabama is hosting the Joy Quilt Festival on May 13 (1:00-6:00 pm) and May 14 (9:00 am -4:00 pm) at the First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. There is no admission fee but donations are accepted.
- The Birmingham Quilter’s Guild will host a quilt show at Oak Mountain Middle School on June 4th and 5th, admission is $5.
- Quilt Symposium is June 9th through the 11th at St. Bernard’s Retreat and Conference Center in Cullman. Classes are offered and vendors will be there also. The admission is $5 and you can learn more at www.qsai.org.
Friendship blocks are available for $2 each (please see Phyllis.) The block of the month was passed out along with instructions for piecing the top row of the quilt, (see Linda for these.)
